…and cut!

The end-of-session wrap. Capture the take, make the work resumable cold, and reset the desk to a clean, stateless start.

/andcut

a closing ritual — capture the take, reset the set SKILL

// description

A director calls "…and cut!" when a scene is done — the take is captured, and the set resets for whoever shoots next. /andcut is that moment for a working session: before the context evaporates, spend a disciplined few minutes making the work (a) resumable by a cold start and (b) a net improvement to what you leave behind.

It isn't a new format — it's a checklist that drives the habits you already have at the one moment they matter: the end. Compose; never duplicate. Scale the depth to the session — a two-minute fix earns two lines; a long build earns a full handoff.

// the six moves · run in order

02learn
03reconcile
04tidy

Skip a move out loud, never silently — its absence is information. The point isn't ceremony; it's that a fresh start, human or machine, can pick up cold.

// the moves · what each one does

01 RESUME — WRITE THE PICK-UP NOTE A short cold-start note that lives next to the work: one line of what this is, the open loops as verb-first to-dos, and exactly where to pick up. Update the existing note; don't start a rival pile.
02 LEARN — KEEP WHAT THE SESSION TAUGHT Record only the durable, reusable lessons — a correction, a method that worked, a newly revealed preference. Extend an existing note rather than duplicate; don't over-codify a one-off.
03 RECONCILE — FIX WHAT THE SESSION MADE STALE Push every change into its one canonical home, and hunt for the lines this session falsified — a "pending" that's now done, a note that reads backwards. Stale-but-confident is worse than missing.
04 TIDY — LEAVE IT LIGHTER & SAFER Shred the throwaway temp files, archive or remove the dead artifacts — reversible-first (keep an undo note over a hard delete), and never touch anything irreplaceable without care.
05 OWE — NAME WHAT'S BLOCKED ON A HUMAN List the moves only a person can make — a decision, a click, an external message — and mark the work "awaiting owner." An agent names what's owed; it never auto-sends on your behalf.
06 CUT — THE CLOSING REPORT A tight close: what shipped · what's verified (with proof) · what's open · where to resume. No hedging on done things; no claiming closure that isn't real. Then flag it ready to pick up cold.

// the guardrails · what /andcut won't do

No silent closure — failed checks, skipped steps, and unverified claims get said plainly. No sending on your behalf — external messages are owed items, for a human to send. Secrets never enter the report, and throwaway copies get shredded. And no over-documenting a thin session — match the artifact to the work.

/C
/com-center
The opening half of the loop: queue → dispatch → relay. /com-center runs the work in parallel; /andcut closes the scene so the next take starts clean.

"Spend a disciplined few minutes at the end and the work becomes resumable cold — any fresh start, human or agent, can continue it. Capture the take; reset the set."
